Our Impact
Approximately 30.29% of the Northern Neck population is over the age of 65 years – nearly twice the national average. In light of this, a considerable portion of N2Health’s programming is centered on achieving health equity for the Northern Neck’s older adults. In addition to supporting the rural residents of the Northern Neck, we have expanded our programming to rural residents across the United States.
Some of our past programs that have helped us work toward our goal of achieving health equity for the residents of rural America include:
Community Health Education
Meeting people where they are (literally and emblematically) is central to our programming. We value providing health education to our rural community members in the community. Some of our past community education events have included Ask-the-Pharmacist, COVID-19 and the African American Community, Vaccine Hesitancy, and Cancer Prevention and Early Detection community health events.
Research & Evaluation
We strive to provide evidence-based programming to improve the lives of our rural community members. We also use comprehensive monitoring and evaluation procedures to adjust our programs to ensure they make a positive and significant impact on rural residents. Some of our past research and evaluation efforts have included conducting a community needs assessment to tailor our programs to the health needs identified by residents, preparing community leaders in Virginia and Arkansas to conduct comparative effectiveness research on local mental health services, and working with academic partners to develop comprehensive evaluation procedures for our programs.
Expanding access to quality, vital health services is paramount to our work. We have worked with local health providers and health departments to bring primary health prevention services like vaccines and vital sign monitoring to the community.
